DE FEIS IN COMA
USCF Executive Director George De Feis has suffered serious head injuries, and has been in a coma since being involved in an auto accident in New Jersey at about 1 am Monday morning. He was attending the US Amateur Team East tournament (in which he had played his first USCF-rated tournament games), and had left the host hotel in Parsippany, NJ after Sunday's rounds in pursuit of food.
Although De Feis remains under intensive care and his future prognosis is unknown, one bit of good news to report is that doctors were able to remove him from life support, as he is able to breathe on his own.
If you wish to send George a card, see our previous post for the hospital address.
