EB CANCELS CONFERENCE CALL; ACTIVITY POINT ABOLITION STILL EXPECTED

The conference call originally scheduled for Jan 25 has been cancelled by the USCF Executive Board because not all members were able to participate.  The call had been expected to eliminate activity points from the rating system and replace them with an accelerated bonus system based on performance.

In place of the call, there is now an attempt to achieve the same result without a call by objections procedure, under which the motion will pass if no one objects by a certain date.  President Tim Redman, previously a strong supporter of activity points, recently stated that he is now in favor of the bonus system based on performance, as is most or all of the Board, so it is possible that the objections procedure motion will pass.  If not, a future conference call will be needed, but activity points are not expected to survive.
