FRANK NIRO NAMED INTERIM USCF ED
USCF President John McCrary made the following announcement today:
Frank Niro will be assuming the duties of Interim Executive Director of the US Chess Federation. Mr. Niro will begin working with outgoing Executive Director George DeFeis, who has given notice of his resignation, in order to assure continuity of USCF services during the transition period before a permanent Executive Director is hired and begins work. It is anticipated that Mr. Niro will be in the USCF office as of December 21, 2001. ( signed) John McCrary, USCF President
He has served on the USCF Ethics Committee and Correspondence Chess Committee, and as a Delegate to the last two annual USCF meetings, has been an active participant in the planning and development of the World Chess Hall of Fame and Sidney Samole museum in Miami, and has edited the APCT (American Postal Chess Tournaments) News Bulletin. He is an ICCF Master who has represented the United States in international correspondence chess competition.
Niro has nearly 25 years non-profit management experience, being employed as a hospital administrator, and as a management consultant and auditor for a national public accounting firm.
